Background History:

The history of prayer in America goes back to our founding fathers. There have consistently been official observances of prayer and fasting since the Continental Congress in 1775. In 1952 amidst the Korean War, President Truman signed a bill ensuring a National Day of Prayer be declared by all subsequent presidents after him. It is now enshrined in Law that on the first Thursday of May be declared the National Day of Prayer. The event has been honored at the White House consistently since President Regan up to last year with President Biden. It is an opportunity for a united voice of prayer by all who wish to call upon a higher power to help direct and bless this great country.
